Went up tto Roachford for a look and then came back to Horseshoe corner and anchored for the night. Coo. I live in Rochford - it's a shame I was buzzing around Southend and Hadleigh all day. BTW, the river Roach was named after the town some time in Victorian times, before then it was called the Fleet. Apparently 'Rochford' meant 'the ford of the running dog' and someone thought it was untidy for the name of the town not to be properly linked in with the name of the river - so they renamed the river. Tomorrow we are off to Battlesbridge on the Crouch as Caro has heard there is a good antique centre there............. Battlesbridge IS an antique centre. There's several buildings specialising in different things from genuine antiques through to reproductions. From postcards to architectural reclamations. Watch Caro or the boat will settle permanently on the mud with the weight of the purchases. Check the tides, cos the mud's a bit deep there.
