My group will be "blown away" or at least mildly
impressed if this happens. They told me to go ahead and plan this trip
and they haven't done anything toward it.

A lot of "getting 'em ahead" in the working boaters' parlance is down to
things like getting the boats moving while one crew member is preparing
breakfast of coffee and bacon butties to hand to the 'working' crew when
ready, similarly for lunch etc. This is how working boats could beat
trains point-to-point - they kept going like the proverbial tortoise.
Quite a number of members of this group get pleasure in being able to
travel relatively long distances in this way. Also if you can get to
Bancroft Basin relatively early in the day you can be sure of getting a
good position and you also know you will have time to be able to stop
off to visit places on the way back if you want to.

I can ferry Ann and crew by car. Sean is OK for that night but no
others have confirmed. We'll have to work out a venue.

Taking Trevor's suggestions, everything worth visiting in Stratford
(touristic as well as pub-wise) is within easy walking distance of the
basin. I'd suggest meeting at the boats, for the simple reason that
boats have their names on them in large letters and people don't. There
won't be that many pairs of Kate Boats in the basin! If Jane & co do a
prowl round they can choose the pub they like the look of!
