Iain and I were very shocked and saddened to hear of Mike's untimely death.
Although we only met him a couple of times, we enjoyed all his posts here and elsewhere and we marvelled at his ability to understand and pass on in a more digestible form, the acts of Parliament which concerned our waterways. Mike always took the opportunities which arose to pass on his encyclopaedic knowledge of the canals and we, like many others, have had our lives enriched as a result. . The canals have lost a great supporter and ambassador and we, in the canal community have lost a good friend. Mike was a man among men. Our thoughts are with Wendy at this sad time.
