With regard to the food at the Black Horse, after many years we're trying down the road tomorrow (Friday) evening at the Shoulder of Mutton - nothing wrong with the food at the Black Horse but it's not as inspiring as it used to be! When we arrived on Friday we discovered the Shoulder of Mutton has changed hands. It is now basically a Chinese Restaurant, although they do sell pub snacks and a larger range of English dishes than most Chinese do. Not bad - 6 of us had the Pearl Banquet at GBP17 a head and enjoyed the selection. In the Essex WRG flyer I said the landlord's in-laws lived in Rayleigh. In view of the Chinese management, I think this is no longer appropriate. ;-) DaveD I raise money for charity just by searching the web! www.everyclick.com is an internet search engine with a big difference - it donates half its revenues to charity, please support them too!
