2ft 6ins undaden, 4ft 6ins laden.

AFAIK Shell Fen's expoits off the Great Ouse, to Ramsey, Yaxley and March 
was via the Old Bedford, where she also used to ply. Shell Fen left the Fens 
in 1974, bought by Roger Lorenz, who took her across the Wash, then over the 
L&L. Well Creek was as good as derelict by 1960. It was not until the 1962 
that Salter's Lode Lock was restored. I think Lionel Munk was the first 
bloke to take a 2ft 9in draught boat across the M.L in the late 1960's, so 
bad was his journey, that The Well Creek Trust was formed in 1970.
