Err, think again. UTC (so named as a compromise between the English Coordinated Universal Time and the French Temps Universel Coordonné) is not GMT, though it is close enough for most purposes. UTC is controlled by the International Telecommunication Union and administered by the Bureau International des Poids et Mesures (you can see where this is going can't you...) in Paris and the US Naval Observatory. -- Andy Greener n.b.
