attempt to stop DOC (NZ) shooting these direct descendants of our Old English goats (now extinct). Carried to Arapawas Island by Captain Cook over 200 yrs ago (so there IS a boat connection!)
* While I'm a supporter of the Rare Breeds Survival Trust, goats, pigs etc. released on islands have been one of the major forces in driving endemic species to extinction. I'd need to know which species (kakapos, tuataras?) the NOC is trying to preserve before making my mind up. Happy New Year. Christine (Industry Narrowboats). Sean
