My wife an I saw a lady in a single scull try to do that to
a narrow boat that was crossing the Thames at right angles at Hurley.
We shouted to warn her and she frantically backed water and hit the
narrow boat with a gentle "plunk". What would have happened if
we hadn't shouted I can't imagine, but it wouldn't have been enjoyable.
