I initially thought the same as you Beeky. Then I wondered if abnormally high
water levels on the Severn would hold back the outflow from the Avon.
Can anyone with local knowledge confirm whether this is the case?
I can remember seeing photos of last year's floods when the whole of
Avon Lock was underwater.

And to Andrew:-  I hope the water levels in Evesham are still receding 
and you are able to enjoy a good nights sleep tonight.
