I for one am seriously worried by this. There's no doubt in my mind
that Brian's trip reports are well within the remit. We've had trip
reports on here for as long as I've been reading it, and very welcome
they are too.
If anything, this list has been getting very quiet, and if people are
making private requests along these lines, I'm not surprised.
My understanding is that this list is a virtual pub, and any topic is
welcome, as long as it is conducted in (reasonably) polite language. As
in the pub, if you are not interested in a conversation, don't listen
to it.
I challenge whoever emailed Brian about this to do the decent thing and
post his/her objections here.
Otherwise, I'm with Noah on this one.
