Subject: [canals-list] Pontcysyllte on the Wireless (xp)

Just had my lunchtime enhanced by Open Country on R4 about the bid to
get World Heritage Site status for Pontcysyllte and the adjoining
canal. More than one pronounciation was evident, but I thought it a
good show. I learned a few things. Link available via the Open
Country web site:

http://www.bbc. co.uk/radio4/ factual/opencoun try.shtml

Enjoy.

Than
Thanks for the link I listened to the first two attempts at the pronunciation
of Pontcysysllte and the pronunciation is not correct. We have of course aired
this subject, before there is only one one correct pronunciation! I will try to
post on the site.CKP
