Last year, Wendy and I commissioned Wherethehell-Rwe from Louis and Joshua.
A 70 foot steel Jonathon Wilson traditional Birmingham Square shell fitted
out in various oaks with a 50hp Beta and upgraded electrics. Interesting
feature is the kids bunk room which adds 10 foot to the boat - otherwise it
would be a 60 footer! We drove it back from Crick yesterday - 11 hours (of
what felt like Watford staircases, tunnels and Braunston locks - oh it
was!). I've nicknamed it my supertanker because it's bloody heavy! We're
moored not far from Napton Junction in Calcutt Marina.
We were Louis and Joshua's show boat for 2008 and I was honoured to meet up
with Tim Tyler and Jonathon Wilson who were happily chatting to Mike and
Maureen (L&J owners) on our boat on Saturday morning at Crick. Upon crashing
through the front doors, Jonathon stuck his hand out knowing that I was keen
on meeting him and I had a great time querying them both on boat-building.
Of interest, we met Jonathon's son, Louis who was also with the party (Louis
and Joshua, get it??), a strong 25 year old young boat builder with the
world at his feet no doubt. Jonathon and Louis watched Sky on the Oyster
Caro dish (what a great bit of kit that is!) whilst I nailed Tim on a few
techniques. A great family atmosphere and a great day. A fitting day to
formally launch the boat!
Anyway, I'm glad I left here because not being part of the scene and not
having a boat was bad enough, being a member here at the same time would
have crippled me with all you "know it all's" :) Instead, I joined a smaller
group with less than 100 members over in "narrowboats", another Yahoo group
where we've had 12 months of a general purpose laugh which documents the
panic as we built the boat!
Were you at crick? You may have spotted me, I was the geezer with the red
Mohican!
Here's some preview pictures of Wherethehell-Rwe before we tidied away the
dusters and the public were let in!!

Anyway, hello again!
Cheers for now.

While others were busy thinking outside the box, I cut it up because I
needed some cardboard for a project I was making.
