"The Way We Were" is not on the url you say, as far as I can see. What does it appear under? I was part time crew member in the horse-drawn "hostelboats" if that what the article meant! They were two dormitories of six persons (I think) separated by the "saloon", where the only entrance was! The crews quarters was in the aft cabin!
I think they ran only Oxford, via Top Of The Town in Birmingham, and Shopshire Union. They wanted to go to Llangollen at the start, but they had not got to there in the time that I knew them, I think the breath of the narrowboat was too broad... I was crew in the second boat, which I collected from Harefield Flash and delivered to (almost) Birmingham, drawn by a "Lee"-horse - who started off trying to get the weight on the towrope equal to the weight he was used to, in a Lee barge! http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/nn47/merrymiller/hostelboatcrew.gif http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/nn47/merrymiller/bridge.gif http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/nn47/merrymiller/5-up.gif Peter (Merry Miller) > Posted by: "Brian Dominic" [EMAIL PROTECTED] > "The Way We Were" on ITV Central tonight featured canal holidays > (courtesy of Harry Arnold) including early hire boats, > a horse-drawn "youth hostel" (2 dormitories) ... > Go to http://www.itvlocal.com/central/programmes > - but it's not loaded yet.............................
