Hi,

The launching ramp at Rye House, I think you mean the slip way, is from when
they used to have a boat yard there.

Its is not used as a slipway anymore, I believe the posts are fixed in place.

Lee Valley Marina at Stanstead Abbotts does have a slip way, which you have to
pay for, plus show the necessary paperwork (insurance, licence etc). This is
the only slipway on the top of the Lee, believe Springfields has a slipway for
the bottom of the Lee.

The only place for craning will Stanstead Abbotts (max 25 tons), with an 8ft
gap you might get down to the junction of the Lee and the Stort and upto the
road bridge from Stanstead Abbotts to St Margerets.

Sorry to say an 8ft air draft on the Lee will be going up and down the same
pound, Plastic cruiser next to us is just on 8ft and he has taken all the roof
of so he can get down to the Thames.

appreciated.Steven,I keep my barge at Hertford, and so have travelled the
length of theLee many times. I have also measured the clearance under most of
thekey bridges.Coming up from London, the limiting bridge headrooms are as
follows(subject to change if the pounds in question are not at weir
crestlevel).Lea Bridge (A104) in Hackney is 2.45 m, and pretty well
flat.Enfield Lock bridge is the same or slightly higher, also flat.Aqueduct
Lock bridge is the same or very slightly lower, also flat.Ware Town bridge is
about 2.3 m.Above Hertford Lock, Mill Road bridge is about 2.2 m, and Folly
Bridgeis 2.1 m. The only full-size winding hole above Hertford Lock isupstream
of Folly Bridge. However, even a full-length narrow boat (orbarge the same
length) can wind immediately below Hertford Lock, orwhere the lock cut joins
the main river, or above Ware Lock, or belowWare lock, or in the maltings arm
above Ware Town bridge. With aboat of your length, you will have a lot of other
options. Given your air draft, it looks like you will have to suck it and
see. There is a launching ramp at Rye House, owned by EA. It is oftenlocked, but
I don't know who to phone to get access to it. While I'm at it, I should warn
you that you probably shouldn't try theStort, as Roydon Mill bridge is about
2.3 m, Roydon rail bridge is 2.1m, and there are several other lowish ones.I'll
look forward to hearing how you get on. And maybe seeing youcruise past my
mooring?Good luck.AdrianAdrian Stott07956-299966
