Nicholsons is incorect Linton Lock has been extended a few years ago and now can take a 60ft boat. Stan and Judy did Ripon on Blue Heron a few years ago and that is 60ft. We are 58ft 6ins and got to Ripon no problem. A 60ft boat will go through all of the Northern Locks (not sure of Pocklington Canal though), inclusive of Calder and Hebble which are 57ft long but 14ft wide, need care in these locks and MUST NOT share with another boat over about 40ft long otherwise you cannot open the gates. If anyone wants more detail on the northern canals we have done all of them and can give much information. Terry
