Most of us take pride in our waterways attitude, courtesy and boat
handling skills.

I mused recently over the (relatively unlikely) prospect of lending
Uncle Mort to a family member. This person is fairly competent but
obviously not up to the standard of the resident skipper and I was
mindful of the fact that should any "events" occur then it would be
assumed that yours truly would be at the tiller. EG rope round prop,
dodgy winding, failing to give way at bridge.

I wondered if there is a flag or signal that could be used to indicate
that the regular skipper is not aboard and should not be chastised for
any misdemeanors.
