I hope I have posted this to the right place as I can't remember which
Barry the ex Firefighters posts to.
We are in Birmingham at the moment and the fire brigade still maintains
the doors to drop suction hoses into the cut, they are even included in
new bridges. The one we passed yesterday looked quite high from the
water. I know the theory but what is the practical maximum the brigade
can suck water to their engines ( I know they don't suck and I know its
lifted by atmospheric presser and it can be lifted higher in times of
high pressure etc.)
