Beat me to it.  That is standard practice with most ISPs - you cannot send 
through their SMTP server from elsewhere (helps prevent spammers).
Other choice is have a small hosting package that includes e-mail addresses 
and an SMTP server (my ronjones.org.uk one does http://www.compila.com), or 
get a hotmail or yahoomail or lycosmail address - or for this list one can 
post from the yahoo groups web pages.
