The reason for this message we need to find a boat somewhere near Marsworth
for a photo opportunity.
What we need to do is take a photo of a broad beam boat trying to get into
the top lock of the Aylesbury arm to show that boats over 7ft cant use some
of our waterways.
Is there anyone available to do this in that area?

either PM me or mail me at [EMAIL PROTECTED] if you can help.

BRITISH WATERWAYS PLANS TO CHARGE WIDER BOATS MORE!

BW proposes to keep licence fees low for narrow boats by increasing
them for wider boats. This would be very unfair. Please join with
DBA in telling BW you object to the idea.

BW is planning first to put a £50 surcharge on all craft wider than a
modern narrow boat, and eventually to charge all boats in proportion to
their
beam. This will significantly raise charges for wider boats, by over
100% in some cases.

However, there is no justification for doing this. BW has admitted
that wider boats don't cost it any more than narrow ones. It's plan
is simply a misuse of "majority rules". It is especially unfair
because wider boats cannot use all the waterways narrow ones can, so
we will be paying more while getting less.

As an alternative that the current licence fee for each boat be completely
replaced
with one that varies with the length of the boat's cruising range from its
home mooring,
i.e. the amount of waterway the boat can actually use.
This is not only fair, but is also practical to implement and could easily
be extended
as the long-requested national charge covering the waters of all navigation
authorities (including EA, National Trust, etc.).
