Hi all,

Sunday 28th September 2008

On Saturday afternoon we walked the short distance from the basin to
Stratford town centre. We intended to eat at Dukes, a wonderful hotel in
Payton Street, that we used to go to on special occasions, when we lived in
Stratford many years ago. It is now a block of flats!. We wandered the shops
for a bit, went to the Slug and Lettuce, which is now called something else,
for a beer or two and pondered what to do. Go back to the boat and come out
again to find somewhere to eat. We settled on Lamb's in Sheep Street and we
had a fantastic meal, with excellent service.

On waking the next morning it is foggy, and very damp. Today we head home to
Evesham.

We left at 10.30am with another boat that happened to be going our way.
'Rambling Rose', continuously cruises and was heading to Sharpness for the
winter. No hurry, they thought they would get there by the end of October.
Most of the locks were against us but no matter the sun came out eventually
and the passage was very pleasant. At Bidford our lock colleagues stopped
and moored for the night. We carried on and drifted gently downstream
admiring the countryside and wishing we could stay on board longer. But alas
no, Evesham soon arrived and we moored up at 5.30pm. Holly, our
granddaughter, was waiting for us with our son Brian, so that made the home
coming nicer.

Great holiday, lovely to meet up with friends old and new. Thanks to
everybody that helped along the way.

Till next time..........

Regards,

Andrew
