Well, The 1901 census lists a John Vazon, retired farmer, living in Fishlake Parish, born in Sheffield in 1856! 1871 lists Vazons in Sheffield Brightside and Doncaster Epworth. Going back there are others listed in Sheffield. 1841 also has a John Vazon listed in Yorkshire. It would need someone with a subscription to one of the sites to give more details than I've given here, but it does seem to have been a name (albeit a rare one) around the relevant area so the above suppositions may well be correct.
