On a cold morning in Cheshire, snow flakes in my eyes,
Warm smell of bacon, greeting the thin sunrise,
Up ahead in the distance, down the Cut on the right,
My head grew heavy and my sight grew dim, I had to stop at the sight;

Pontoons stood where once fields lay, lines of moorings to sell,
And I was thinking to myself, this could be heaven or this could be
hell.
Then she held up a windlass and she showed me the way
There were voices down the pontoon, I thought I heard them say...

"Welcome to Marina California
Such a lovely place
Such a lovely base
Plenty of room at Marina California
Any time of year, you can find us here...."

She showed me the moorings, there were plenty to spare
They had a lot of pretty, pretty boats, that don't go anywhere.
So I called to the manager, "Just let me go free"
He said "We haven't had that spirit here since 2003."

Last thing I remember, I was tripping over a cleat
I had to find the passage back to the canal so sweet
"Relax", said the boater in the Captain hat, "They are programmed to
receive.
We can checkout any time we like, but we will never leave!"

"Welcome to Marina California
Such a lovely place
Such a lovely base
Plenty of room at Marina California
Any time of year, you can find us here...."
