This is way off topic apart from the fact that the final product will be
used while boating etc.
For years I have successfully plugged a Bluetooth dongle into the back of my
laptop and connected to the internet using my Nokia phone as a modem. No
need for Nokia or O2 software, the dongle did it's job beautifully and I
connected first time every time.
However, I had to part with my old Nokia and I now have a Blackberry 8200
flip from Orange. It does everything perfectly apart from letting my laptop
connect to the internet. The phone and laptop see one another and are paired
and when I query the modem (i.e. the blackberry) the result is success.
However, when I try to dial out from my laptop I get an error telling me
that there is a problem with the dialling device.
Orange have been very helpful but despite spending hours on the phone to
them, neither they nor I can find out what the problem is. I have even
bought a newer dongle and set up the Dial up Networking thing again. still
no luck.
If anyone here uses their blackberry and laptop in this way, could you
please contact me as you may be able to tell me what you had to do to make
the connection.
I know I can use the Blackberry on it's own to access my emails etc but I
prefer to use the laptop and have a bigger screen to look at :-).
Thanks , Ann
