The current sofa is actually a futon. I've used it in the past as a bed. Amongst its problems are: it's unsightly; it's uncomfortable to sleep on; to unfold it, all of the junk at the front of the boat needs to be moved; it is too short to use folded even for my youngest now that she's almost as tall as her mother; it's even more uncomfortable to sit on; it will be recycled very soon. I like the Thermarest idea, will look into it. All we really need is a cushion, daughter usually gets into a sleeping bag or wraps herself up in blankets. Thanks for the suggestions.
