[kind words from Steve and Bruce snipped]

Actually, I have to confess that I know nothing about rugby. I did go
to a match once, when I was a student, but that was to engage in
assaults on a rival college, and I have no idea what happened on the
pitch or field. I have also attended one soccer (football) match and
one Gaelic football match, both when I was at school. I don't know
anything about them either.

My daughter, living in London, arranged a gathering in an alehouse
(or, to be more specific, a Porterhouse) for the last day of the
recent Six Nations thingie. She said that the English folk present
were, like Steve and Bruce, very kind about the Irish team --- but
delighted that the Welsh had been beaten.
