Researching transport arrangements for a spot of
weekending along the K&A revealed that the station just handy for
Woolhampton Lock is called Midgham, although it's well over a mile
from Midgham village [and lock].

Is this where they thought about having the station closer to the village, but
on reflection decided it was probably better to have it next to the railway
line? ;-)

As distinct from the station for Kingswear in Devon, where the ticket office
was the other side of the river.
