You may all already know about the Transport Archive Site (www.transportarchive.org.uk) but it has just come to my attention. As the home page says "The Transport Archive tells the story of Britain's transport system since the eighteenth century. Using several thousand images, it shows how waterways, railways and aviation have changed our lives."
What it does include is several maps (particularly in the North West, and mainly the Bridgewater and the Manchester Ship Canal) showing the canals in the 1800s, a history of the Great Central Railway and airfields in South Gloucestershire.?It also has videos and stories of various events.
