I have a pressure gauge/accumulator and hose set up that you may borrow to put
into the main gallery of your PRM box to demonstrate whether there is any
improvement on your box (I'll just have to go and borrow it back from the local
boat yard who've had it for trial for some time now).
I used it to demonstrate the principle of operation on my PRM 500 in Albion.
Having proved it would work I then blagged a completely free double accumulator
version including valve block sandwich plate from PRM themselves on a permanent
loan/trial basis and it's still on Albion under her new ownership. The new
barge has it fitted as standard though, an extra £300 ish IIRC.
In my opinion the slamming of the clutch plates must be detrimental to the life
of the gears even though they are relatively lightly loaded in a canal boat.
Let me know if you want to borrow it and I'll get it back from the boat yard.
