Hi Folks,

I've just applied to join CUTWEB but I am wondering about whether I
might also be advised to join a less 'virtual' club as well?

This is all new to me (isn't that the case with most things at the
moment?) but I am told that membership of a club can be very useful in
the longer term as they occasionally have moorings available.

I'm going to be cruising most of the time but, being very frank here, I
am likely to be back in hospital once in a while (mainly during the next
12 months or so) and the advantage of perhaps being able to leave 'Wyrd'
in a reasonably safe place, hopefully at a reasonably affordable rate as
well, for maybe for a week or ten days, is something that has been
constantly nagging at the back of my mind :(

Taking this subject a little further, I understand that BW sometimes
offer 'winter moorings' but I've not had much success sourcing these
yet. Could anybody here who is using one (or has used one in the past)
help me out here with access points and likely costs?

Although not cast in stone, I'll be on BW water this year so anywhere
south of a line drawn across the country from about Leicester downwards
would be my initial aim.

I'm also interested in finding out more about the 'Gold' license - but
I've also been singularly unable to find out the cost - all I've
gathered so far is that it runs from January 1st each year, the same as
the normal Environmental Agency licenses, and that there is no discount
on either for buying one half way through the year - which is a pain! :(

Is there any advantage in buying separate licenses (BW and EA) or is the
'Gold' likely to work out less expensive in the longer term?

Its all a bit crook really - looking at the maps you can lose several of
those expensive EA 'Days' just travelling between their waterways :(

If you see this twice then I apologise as it is being sent to both the
[narrowboats] list and the [canals-list]

Cheers,

Trevor
