Hi Barry I was at the opening event for the roof; very impressive piece of engineering and yes its a safe bet that it won't be needed over the coming fortnight ;) We went down to court side after play had ended and it felt quite unreal, like being in a theme park more than the real thing. Have to say the view from the back where we were (back row of section 509) is absolutely dreadful because the low (fixed) roof means you can't even see 2/3 of the crowd let alone the royal box and don't get the atmosphere at all. Mind you as far as I'm concerned Centre Court lost its atmosphere when the standing area was taken out. I loved it in there and stopped going shortly afterwards (I used to join the for queue 2 or 3 days of each Championship.) This was my first trip in maybe 20 years but it was a good chance to take my Mum who had never been at all despite being a big tennis fan.
To bring it vaguely back on topic, I'm about to set off up to Llangollen today and am wondering what TV reception is like up that way. If anyone spots someone shuffling moorings at 9pm to try and catch the highlights its probably me ;) Steve NB Youcannotbeserious
