Different types of battery will and should charge at different rates,
for example I have a 200ah Exide lead acid start battery which charges
when using CEN alternator and to 14.8 when using multi-stage charger. My
2x220ah Elecsols on the other hand must not be charged beyond 14.4v and
both sources of charge sense this. I know that Elecsol is a dirty word
to some people but I have had no problems with mine despite abusing
them, mainly by letting them go very flat, for nearly 4 years and
another member of this group is happily still using some that are nearly
10 years old but he has the ability to place his hands on top of them
and they will renew themselves :)
