. Once clear of the lock we moored for the night with the stern about 5 feet
from the bank, the little yacht is moored on the outside of us as he draws one
meter with bilge keels and could not get anywhere near the bank.
I've moored there several times, Brian--& sometimes like you--could not get
into the bank--other times--no problem[??] Did you frequent 'The Bull' about 5
mins. walk away next to the church? Last time I was in there a 'local' told me
of the ''pensioners' platter menu'' that one can ask for, about half the price
of the [dear] main menu. I was never sure if it was a wind-up or not, can
anyone confirm this?
Whilst we're on matters watery, a stroll yesterday from 'The
Grand Junction' Bulbourne to 'The White Bear' Marsworth. Neither pub is
anything to shout about--a pity considering the venue [Incidentally, the
lock-keepers house halfway down the Marsworth flight is for sale--I wonder how
much?] but the natural history display on show outside the The White Bear is
marvellous. Carp of mirror, common, ghost & a few koi varieties in sizes
ranging from 5-6 pounds up to 20 or 30 pounds & beyond, fight each other to get
to the proffered bread of passers-by. Much more interesting than feeding the
ducks!
