I saw One spanish chap jump from the top of his boat some 12' to the bank
clutching the centre rope. He landed with a neat pirouette and took a pose. We
are still convinced he was a male ballet dancer. Later we saw him working the
water tap - what grace in his dance to turn the tap on. You see the world on
Canaltimes.

But some people seem to genuinely believe that they are invincible. I
once tried to warn a woman in the well deck of a hire boat against
trying to deflect it from fast-approaching stonework with her hands,
only to be told to f*** off for my troubles.

Hi All,

I was always told, never jump off or on to a moving boat. Always wait until
the boat is within stepping distance, even if it means the steering person
has to start again and even if there are people watching. I once saw someone
jump a good 3 feet, holding a rope. When I suggested that was not a terribly
good idea I got the same response Martin did. Now I keep my mouth shut. Why
should I worry?

Andrew
