That's an extraordinary bit of luck. You can check it easily then.

No probs. You cannot rid the system of air completely in pockets caused by the 
top of something such as a filter housing. That will not be your problem. Look 
for air bubbles in your clear pipe as a first step.

I wouldn't bother. While it may be desirable to have them adjacent it hasn't 
caused you a problem in the past so why should it have suddenly started to 
cause a problem now?. I'm pretty sure the clue lies in something that has 
happened over-winter or during de-winterising.
