Since it was described as a 'good' luck token, I assume the child got
her foot out in time.  If the other shoe was thrown in the canal, it
seems to be having limited effect.  I think flooding had been a
regular problem due to reeds in the canal, which BITM spent a day
pulling out a few years ago.  I believe it was dredged by machine
recently.
