We have regular problems, can't think why.
BT installed junction box about 3 feet away and 2 feet above the local River 
Pinn, only prob is when it rains a lot the level can rise by 3 feet!

We have problems where they terminate on the post and water seeping in 
or trees rubbing through the cable bundle
