I entirely agree, it would be wrong for MPs to get campaign medals just for
visiting the war zone.

I have searched quite widely and can find no evidence that there is any truth
behind it.

Please note, I am talking about official campaign medals.

The only thing that I can find is a badge that they can get through the Armed
Forces Parliamentary Scheme. This is not an official medal, and cannot be
worn as such. It is no different from the assorted mickey mouse medals that
anyone can buy. It is certainly not a campaign medal.

www.telegraph.co.uk/news/newstopics/onthefrontline/7006304/MPs-criticised-for-accepting-Mickey-Mouse-medals.html
gives most of the detail.

I am only aware of one MP who has had a campaign medal recently (Andy Murrison,
whose constituency is somewhere in Wiltshire) - and he got it, serving with the
RNR as a doctor supporting army operations in Iraq, on exactly the same terms
as any other regular or reserve serviceman.

Don't get too steamed up about condemning something that isn't actually
happening. There is enough to criticise our MPs about without inventing
additional points.

Regards

Charley
