Would it be costly to try these different approaches (disable MTP,
alternative flash) to help narrow down the root cause? Could we pull
out a few devices and let them spin testing these options repeatedly?
When these things do wedge, do we get any debugging information? Note
that if we built that headphone cable I mentioned over the weekend,
we'd get a serial console.
One thing that would be handy would be details about each device when it
gets stuck. Details such as:
* where was the device:
1) Ubuntu (adb somehow not showing)
2) Fastboot (maybe our flash procedure crapped out)
3) Blank screen / don't know
* could unplug/replug the USB connector fix it?
etc. Then we'd have slightly more metrics.
Disabling MTP sounds interesting - However, AIUI, MTP is still going to
cause havoc on the target that's really been our core problem. Still
might be worth a shot given the pain we are currently experiencing.
