It's a bit more than just a serial console; it's an interface to the
firmware. While I haven't been able to find the documents laying out
all the options, typing reboot or something similar when connected to
it should power cycle the device.

If it can always trigger a device for reboot then I'm +10.

I'm skeptical about that. But even if it were to work 50% of the time, it would be a lot easier than trying to wire up the phones so we can simulate pressing the power-button.
