This bug is caused by installation of the 'acroread' package according the debian bug report. I had version 9.4.2-0maverick1 installed. I purged the package on my system and respawned a bash shell and it went away.
Debian marked it Won't Fix because it needs to be fixed in the acroread package itself. ** Bug watch added: Debian Bug tracker #616018 http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=616018 ** Also affects: bash-completion (Debian) via http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=616018 Importance: Unknown Status: Unknown ** Changed in: bash-completion (Ubuntu) Status: Confirmed => Won't Fix ** Summary changed: - Completion treats directories like files with some commands + Installation of the acroread package causes completion to treat directories like files with some commands ** Also affects: acroread (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Canonical Partner Developers, which is subscribed to acroread in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/752193 Title: Installation of the acroread package causes completion to treat directories like files with some commands _______________________________________________ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~canonical-partner-dev Post to : [email protected] Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~canonical-partner-dev More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
