Well, I don't know which procedure fix that, but I took the following actions: 1st - remove Skype via terminal 2nd - remove any reference to Skype via Nautilus (as root). Do a search for "skype" and delete everything that shows up 3rd - download skype package from its site 4th - install and be happy. Worked for me in Precise x64.
