Hi, yes Skype clears and re-creates the menu at every click, but this is not causing any blinking on other distributions (i.e. Kubuntu) and also it was not a problem on Ubuntu itself before v12.04 if I remember correctly. I also checked the code and looks like when the package 'sni-qt' is installed then the slot 'aboutToShow' for the menu is triggered twice, when the package is uninstalled then is triggered only once, keeping Skype code exactly the same. This is very suspicious.
Without pointer fingers, I believe the 'sni-qt' package is the real cause of this bug, but I cannot proove it for sure.
