2014-03-12: installed skype from Ubuntu Repo, but no sound. >From the page: ...http://www.webupd8.org/2013/10/get-sound-working-in-skype-with-ubuntu.html I learned the resolving for original skype installs ...sudo sed -i 's/^Exec=.*/Exec=env PULSE_LATENCY_MSEC=30 skype %U/' /usr/share/applications/skype.desktop Checking /usr/share/applications/skype.desktop I descovered that this line had in my Ubuntu-install ...PULSE_LATENCY_MSEC=60 Setting it to 30 brought the sound back.
