Alas, that tutorial is for cap 1.x. You're going to have to adapt it to 2.x as you go. You might take a look at http://www.capify.org for more resources (though the documentation is admittedly very slim right now, and I apologize for that).

to set up a deployment and it's been working great. However, after
recently doing a 'gem update' on my development system I have been

What's installed now are:
capistrano (2.1.0)
mongrel (1.1)
mongrel_cluster (1.0.4)
rake (0.7.3)

Any help would be much appreciated!
