There are no remote vs. local "folders", there are only git repositories
(local vs. remote) and different ways of specifying their location.

Absolute path to a local repository is one way of specifying it, and you're
telling it's broken. I don't see how can it be, but I still haven't the
chance to try. Can you please explain your findings in terms closer to us
(git developers)?
