I've digged a little into the Cap source. The problem seems to be the following command constructed by Cap:
git ls-remote https://git.domain.com/myapp.git HEAD This returns an empty string. I'm not sure whether this is a Git issue or just a problem of my particular server. Maybe someone with access to a Git repo over HTTPS could try the above? I'm using up-to-date version on both sides.
