I don't think it is related to rubygems, since I just tried uninstalling capistrano and reinstalling (using rubygems 1.2.0) and I can find the remote_cache strategy just fine. What does the lib/ capistrano/recipes/deploy/strategy directory look like in your capistrano installation? Is there a remote_cache.rb file?
