It makes setting up a rails server in apache incredibly easy. In your case, you want your server to be a sub URL of the main url, so check out this section in the documentation: http://www.modrails.com/documentation/Users%20guide.html#deploying_rails_to_sub_uri All of the passenger commands are easily scriptable in capistrano.
