You need to specify the user as part of the server definition:
role :app, "[EMAIL PROTECTED]", "[EMAIL PROTECTED]", ...Cap cannot deal with different passwords, though, but you're recommended to use public keys instead, anyway. Just use the same key on each server, and cap will transparently connect to each server with it.
