Robin, not familiar with that -- don't know why it works that way (and you know my feeling about some of the earlier pre-handover (often untested) contributions)
I'll read up more today, see if we can't make sense of it. (my problem is changing this for you breaks (slows down) this code for others, and changes lots of things people might rely upon. Thinking you would be better served forking the strategy if you change the behaviour so fundamentally.
